Students excel in academic competitions

Music competes at regional festival

Multiple students made it to state after competing in the Regional Solo and Small Ensemble Festival at Tabor College on April 13.

Students are graded on a scale of one to five, with one being the best and a state qualifying rank. Of the nine students who competed, six qualified for state.

Meredith Denton, Kayla Jernigan, Conrad Cassell, and Rhett Parry all qualified for state for vocal solos.

Isabelle Stuhlsatz, Matthew Vanstory, and Blake Murphy are all going to state for band solos.

Everyone else who competed got a two, which is an exceptional score despite not qualifying for state.

Leah Schrader got a two for her band solo, and Isabelle Stuhlsatz, Adalynn Miller and Leityn Bolinder got a two for their clarinet trio. The mixed vocal ensemble also got a two for their performance.

State is April 27 at Tabor College. Family and friends are allowed and encouraged to come watch performances.
