Chargers perform with K-State All-Star band
From a high school gym to the Bill Snyder Family Stadium, a few WHS students made a big step up in band class. Wabaunsee graduates Jacob Daley and Jessica Vanstory and students Matthew Vanstory and Isabelle Stuhlsatz performed in the K-State All-Star band after hours of practice.
Wabaunsee to collaborate with Mission Valley for county concert
Wabaunsee High School’s band is traveling to Mission Valley High School tonight for the annual Joint concert between the two schools.
Throwback Thursday | 2007 Band and Choir
As the WHS band and choir prepare to perform at the first concert of the year, we look back to the 2007 music program, led by director Jayme Malsom. The 2021 band will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the WHS auditorium. The choir performances will include a medley of songs from “Stranger Things” and the sea chanty “Wellerman.” The band will perform songs including “Rainbow Connection.”
Senioritis Season 4: Episode 2 — Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood
Hosts AJ Grutsch and Lauren Schutter discuss horror films, being crowned homecoming queen and the ups and downs of school dances. In the second segment, band teacher Jamie Rogers joins AJ to discuss his participation in a bike race this summer as well as the music and band performances to look forward to this year.
WHS adds new elective to schedule
WHS is expanding opportunities for students to enroll in fine arts classes. Wabaunsee High School has recently added a new guitar class that will be taught by current band and choir teacher Jamie Rogers.
Playing with Pride
At Friday’s home basketball game, 43 members of the K-State Catband joined the WHS pep band in cheering on the Chargers.
WHS band director Jaime Rogers thought the event was beneficial for WHS students.
“Our students enjoyed having the college band,” Rogers said. “I think some were a bit star struck and some just jumped right in and interacted with them.”
Band, choir prepare for winter concert
The WHS band and choir are tuning up for their 2019 Winter Concert tonight, featuring holiday classics and some melodious newcomers.
The band will perform a french carol called “Echoes de Noel,” “Cartoon Christmas” and “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.” The band will also play “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” trombone player senior Luke Stuhlsatz’s favorite song of the set. "It's the most upbeat song we're doing," Stuhlsatz said.
Band and choir ready for first concert of the year
Under new direction, the WHS band and choir will have its opening concert tonight at 7 p.m.
“I’m really excited about finally getting to perform with the band and choir in our beautiful auditorium,” director Jaime Rogers said. “Both groups are going to make some good music tonight. We’re going to perform and it’s going to sound awesome.”
Students play in KSU All-Star marching band
Senior Luke Stuhlsatz and junior Bernice Poulter had the opportunity to play in the K-State All Star Marching Band at the first K-State home game August 31.
“To get into the band we had to be nominated by Mr. Philbrook and fill out some forms,” Poulter said. “Then we had to be chosen by the directors of the band. We were sent the music after we were accepted into the band. We had to learn it before hand and mark it with our movements in the marches.”
