Volleyball continues streak of postseason success
The Wabaunsee volleyball team is going to state for the fourth year in a row. 2A state takes place in Dodge City Friday and Saturday. The Chargers will take on Hillsboro, Smith Center and St. Marys Colgan in Pool 1.The Chargers will face Hillsboro on Friday at 3:30 for their first match. The top two teams from each pool will move on to the semifinals Saturday morning.
WHS volleyball looks to build on recent success with new coach
The Wabaunsee volleyball team expects to achieve great things again this season. The team returns four starters, with three previous state appearances for the senior class — taking second as freshmen, first as sophomores and third as juniors. Though the team is bringing in a lot of previous players, there is a new addition to the group: head coach Chris Smart.
Volleyball advances to state after entering sub-state as #5 seed
For a third year in a row, Charger volleyball is headed to state.
It’s the Charger’s seventh state appearance in nine seasons.
“Our program has been building all decade,” coach Tracy Capoun said. “I attribute that to the hard work our girls, parents and others put in during and outside of the season. They have a passion for the sport and seek out opportunities to play and get better all year long.”
FCCLA students qualify STAR events to state
FCCLA students recently participated in district elections and STAR Event competitions.
Two students ran for district offices this year. Freshman Annie Wright was elected as the alternate Vice President of STAR Events and sophomore Kaelyn Conrad is the District D Vice President of Public Relations. Conrad’s new responsibilities include running the district’s Instagram page as well as writing monthly newsletters.

Autymn Schreiner, Alexis Hafenstine, Kassidi Huff, Kinsey Stuewe and Jessica Vanstory presented STAR events at the state capitol for Day on the Hill.
