Students in Jess Rutledge's government class are running for President! Every year government students create posters and campaign videos like real politicians to simulate a political race. “I started doing this assignment when I first arrived at WHS eight years ago. I was looking for more projects in the senior government class and got the idea from a former professor at Kansas State,” Rutledge said.

A common problem amongst seniors at Wabaunsee is the struggle to fill their schedule, but there is a solution to this problem. As nine seniors have elected to do this semester, there is an option to take time during the school day to go work at real-world jobs.
Wabaunsee’s annual Fall play is only a couple of weeks away. Just like in years past, the drama class will put on a lovely performance for the community, however this year there will be some guest appearances as well. The newspaper class and several students from outside of the drama class will also make up the cast this year, yours truly included.
In the scorching heat of the sun, the Wabaunsee journalism team headed out to conduct interviews and get pictures for a newspaper competition at the Kansas State Fair.
2021 Homecoming candidates answer questions about their time at WHS. The homecoming parade begins Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the pep rally downtown after. The crowning is at 6:30 with football vs. Troy at 7 p.m. The homecoming dance begins after the game until 11 p.m.
Schools are a place where students go to be educated. Kids go to school, they get information crammed into their little heads, they go home and cry. That is the way our forefathers intended it to be. Schools are completely entrusted to mold the minds of our youth, but some people believe the trust is being misplaced. As of late, concerned citizens across our country have been voicing their concerns regarding the teaching of Critical Race Theory.
The track team traveled to Lyndon on Thursday for its first meet of the season and the first meet since the 2019 season. At Lyndon, the girls finished with 48 points in fifth place, and the boys came in 6th with 35 points.
If gaming isn’t exactly your specialty but you still enjoy video game content, watching live streams of gameplay might be right up your alley.
According to Twitch’s website, “Twitch is the world's leading live streaming platform for gamers and the things we love. Watch and chat now with millions of other fans from around the world.” Twitch is a live streaming service for multimedia entertainment, similar to YouTube, but the restrictions are far more lax. The content on Twitch ranges from gaming to things like bands practicing.
The Charger talked to a few of our students who participate in streaming. Juniors Jacob Daley, Justin Carlson, Brady Bayless and Richard Wagner all hold their own streams.
