Meyer signs to Allen County Community College softball

Jacob Meseke | editor in chief

Senior Paxton Meyer signed to play softball for the Allen County Community College Red Devils. Meyer has played softball for all four years for the Chargers.

Meyer said she picked Allen for multiple reasons. “I really enjoyed the campus and town, Madi (Havenstein) goes there, and they gave me a scholarship,” Meyer said.

Meyer will join former Wabaunsee Charger Madi Havenstein for the Red Devils. Havenstein was a graduate of the 2022 class and will be going into her sophomore year at Allen.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Madi again and playing at the next level.”

Meyer is a career .472 hitter for the Chargers. As of publication, Meyer has had 92 hits, 71 RBIs, 49 runs scored, and 10 home runs. In the field Meyer has had a .896 fielding percentage, 38 assists, and 138 putouts. Meyer also tallied 15 stolen bases. She has done this in three years after missing her freshman year due to season cancellation because of COVID-19.

Coach Joe Dee Tarbutton Meyer has been a key part of the team. “She’s been a big asset to the team for her whole career. She led the team in hitting last season and was all-state and all-league. I’m looking forward to watching her at the next level.”

Senior Night for softball is May 9 against Osage City.
