USD 329 board hired ASA Strategic Funding to help develop and promote a new plan to address facilities issues.

At the April 12 board meeting, ASA Strategic Funding was hired for $12,200 to help promote and develop a new bond. They have worked on over 200 research projects and have a 94 percent success rate. They plan to work with the community to develop a plan that everyone can agree on.

Joseph G. Roenjes spoke to the board about acquiring Paxico Middle School for his brewery company but the board ultimately decided to keep it as storage facilities for now.

The board approved all resignations and transfer of duties including Brooke Janssen as fifth grade at Alma Elementary School and Kari Rosine as fifth grade teacher at Maple Hill Elementary School at the start of next school year. Emily Gehrt will then take over Janssen’s current position as Alma Elementary School’s fourth grade teacher. Trevor Keller has also been moved from junior high assistant football coach to high school assistant football coach.

The board also approved the addition of a PreK-6 counselor position and a guitar class at Wabaunsee High School. The class will be taught by Jamie Rogers, the current band and choir teacher, and will be provided with 4 guitars.

During Principal Oliver’s review he informed the board that the eighth grade promotion ceremony is still planned to happen. Seventh grade awards will not be held that night and each family will be allotted 10 tickets.
